My Background
My motivation to pursue the counseling field was born out of a natural desire to encourage others and sit with them in their dark places. I have learned the value of having a compassionate, trained, listening ear throughout my own life during times of struggle. My hope is to give the same gift to my clients – a safe place for sharing and working through challenges that arise. The darkness that surrounds us when we are experiencing trials of many kinds can feel overwhelming, and my goal as a therapist is to assist individuals in finding hope, the daybreak for his or her soul.
I began my counseling experience in 2011 at a community center in Savannah, Ga. I engaged in group therapy sessions centered around addictions, anger management, and moral reconation therapy throughout my time at the center. Since that time, I have worked in private practice, providing in-person and online counseling for women and couples. It has been a pleasure to jump on board with Family Renewal Counseling, and I’m pleased to offer teletherapy sessions to clients across the state.
My Education And Approach
My post-graduate training includes Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level 1 and coursework in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Both methods allow me to embrace marital challenges while working alongside couples, nurturing new, effective ways of communicating. It is an honor for me to walk alongside partners as they navigate, put language to, and heal from relational challenges.
The Role Of Faith In My Practice
An important distinction in my therapy approach is that I counsel from a Christian perspective. My goal is to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide each session, understanding and leaning into the fact that true healing comes through Jesus. Clients can trust that our time together is based on a true desire to lead clients in a biblical way.
Who I Help
In addition to couples counseling, I enjoy working with women and adolescents experiencing a range of concerns and issues. My specialties include counseling for marital/relational conflict, grief, depression, anxiety, and teen/young adult adjustment concerns.
