My Background

Born and raised in the South…yes, I am a true “Georgia peach,” I was raised in a home that valued serving others. From feeding people experiencing homelessness, ministering to bikers in bar settings, to caring for those in prison ministry, my heart was drawn to helping people walk through life’s trials. Why? Because going it alone is too hard. Has life become challenging or overwhelming? Does the weight feel too heavy to carry? I get it. People let you down. Grief hits like a freight train. And you feel wobbly as you manage it all. I understand.

Counseling makes sense to me. I’ve had first-hand experience working through trauma in my own life. What helped was discovering emotions I did not even know were there. I learned how to instill healthy boundaries while moving toward forgiveness at the same time. The hardest person for me to forgive? Myself. But with a therapist who felt safe, I discovered my most authentic self, the person God designed me to be, heal, becoming a greater blessing to my husband and family. I am grateful. And I want to be that therapist for you. I offer my clients compassionate support as we work together toward emotional and spiritual freedom and restoring relationships. It is for freedom we have been set free
(Galatians 5:1 paraphrase)

My Education And Approach

I received my Bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University. War Eagle! My experience working with couples in a mentor program through my church inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University. I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and Delta Kappa, the Honor Society of Marriage and Family Therapy. Currently, I am under the supervision and direction of Christie Poole, LMFT, as a counseling intern and am seeking certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy for individuals, families, and couples.

The Role Of Faith In My Practice

My parents raised me in a faith-centered home and instilled a relationship with Christ in me from a very early age. Yet it took life challenges to know and trust that the Maker of the universe loves me unconditionally and wants a close relationship with me. It took some dark days to fully understand that I could trust His love and truly believe He was safe.
Christ told us, “…in this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33). But we were also promised that He is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). I am grateful for both the warning and the assurance. While faith in God has gotten me through many of my own troubles, I recognize that not everyone shares that same faith. That’s OK! I can still walk beside you in your dark days, offering you my professional skills. You don’t have to handle those trials alone!
